Cluster Parking Closures for Parking Lot, Sidewalk, Curb and Gutter Repairs – July 2020

In July 2020, our neighborhood will be undertaking a series of neighborhood wide projects which will require us to close the parking lots for the repairs to be made.

All vehicles must be moved and re-located from the parking lots by 7 AM on the day the work starts until the work is completed and ready to be reopened to traffic. Failure to move your car may result in towing at owner’s risk and expense.

The current schedule, subject to weather and/or production conditions, is:

Asphalt Repair

  • Millennium Lane: July 14 – 15
  • Decade Court: July 15 – 16
  • Generation Court: July 16 – 17
  • Generation Drive: July 16 – 21

Concrete Repairs (Sidewalk, Curb and Gutter Repairs)

  • Decade Court: July 6 -7
  • Millennium Lane: July 7 – 10
  • Generation Court: July 9-10, July 13
  • Generation Drive: July 13 – 17

Here is important information to know about the repairs:

Asphalt Repair:

  • We have contracted with Brothers Paving & Concrete Corporation
  • We will be milling, repaving, and striping the parking lots
  • Work will be from 7 AM to 5 PM (weather permitting)
  • Do not enter the parking lot until the lots have re-opened
  • Any vehicle blocking access to the work areas may be towed at owner’s risk and expense

Concrete Repair:

  • We have contracted with Brothers Paving & Concrete Corporation
  • We will be replacing sections of sidewalks, curbs and gutters that need repairs
  • Concrete replacement locations have been marked with WHITE paint.
  • Do not park within TWO PARKING SPACES EACH SIDE, OR 50 Feet of the marked areas between the hours of 7 am – 5 pm on the scheduled dates noted above
  • Remove any decorative borders and/or overhanging landscaping (flowers, shrubs, grass, MARK SPRINKLER SYSTEMS, etc.) from the marked locations as the contractor will need to have access to place forms along the border for the new concrete.
  • The contractor will not be responsible for removal of and/or damage to any landscaping or other items that may impede upon the designated work area.
  • Do not walk on concrete for 72 hours after repairs have been made

If weather and/or operational issues prevent the above schedules to take place, re-scheduling will be communicated through notice either on cluster mailboxes and/or door-to-door notice.

Amidst the Coronavirus Pandemic

As we all hunker down and stay at home, the Board has met virtually and we want to thank everyone for looking out for each other as neighbors, while maintaining social distancing. Here are some items of note:

  • At this time, trash and recycling pickup are continuing as normally scheduled.Our community lawn maintenance is also continuing by Blade Runners as normal.
  • Exterior home inspections for houses going on the market are continuing as normal. Spring inspections are postponed until further notice.
  • The Reston Community Center is closed indefinitely by order of Fairfax County Government. The board will hold virtual meetings.
  • The complete parking lot replacement for all of Generation – milling,repaving, and restriping – was originally planned for the April/May timeframe. Due to the pandemic and the fact that many people are now home, the work has been rescheduled begin in July. Concrete: July 6-10 and 7/13-17. Asphalt: July 20- 24. You will begin to see more communications about the parking lot project and its impact to residents as we get closer to the expected dates.
  • Millennium street sign was replaced with correct spelling (however, they did not do Millennium + Decade sign).

Tree Trimming – July 24 – Generation 1

The trees on the “tree island” in Generation 1 will be trimmed on Wednesday, July 24. So the crews have enough room to work (and to protect your car), there will be no parking in this area from 7 AM to 5 PM.

Trash Update – Jan 30, 2019

We received this update from American Disposal regarding our trash pickups:
Due to hazardous weather and deteriorating road conditions yesterday, some areas were not completed to prevent potential injury or property damage. Safety to all our customers, the general public, as well as our employees will always be our primary consideration.
We will return on the next scheduled service day for uncollected items and collect double the volume.
 
We recognize adverse weather conditions may bring unwelcomed service interruptions and apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.

Snow Lane Reminder

Since we are expecting snow, please remember that both Generation Drive and Millennium Lane have marked snow lanes for the plows to deposit snow. Please make sure the are clear for the plows and there are no cars parked in them.

New Roof Shingle Standard

The Reston Association Design Review Board recently approved a new Generation Cluster standard for roof shingles.  The shingle types in the previous standard are no longer available.  The 3 shingles that were approved for the new standard are: The Reston Association Design Review Board recently approved a new Generation Cluster standard for roof shingles.  The shingle types in the previous standard are no longer available.  The 3 shingles that were approved for the new standard are:

  • GAF Architectural Timberline Weathered Wood
  • GAF Architectural Timberline Pewter Gray
  • GAF 3-tab Weathered Gray

Generation Cluster homeowners who replace their roofs are now required to use one of the three shingles in the new standard.   Examples of the shingles can be viewed at Home Depot.  Also, they can be seen on the following three homes in the cluster that have recently installed new roofs.

  • 2360 Generation Dr. – GAF Architectural Timberline Pewter Gray
  • 2334 Generation Dr.  –  GAF 3-tab Weathered Gray

Final Leaf Pick-up – Dec 15

The final leaf pick up by Blade Runners will be on December 15th.

Please be aware that any leaves that are raked up may be put in bags and put out with the trash.

We ask all residents to be considerate and not fill parking spaces with raked leaves.
